OGUN SEAL INDUSTRY OVER ENVIRONMENTAL INFRACTIONS

The Ogun State Government, through its Environmental Protection Agency, has sealed African Foundries Limited along Ogijo in Sagamu Local Government Area, for environmental infractions.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), Alhaji Farouk Akintunde, who doubles as the chairman of Ogun State Task Force on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, said that the industry was into producing iron rods.

Akintunde revealed that the factory was issued a stop-work order after being found guilty of air pollution, which was a violation of the State’s environmental law.

He further disclosed that the factory flouted a stop work order issued by the agency and continued its operation, which was a gross misconduct against the environmental law of the State.

“The Agency will not fold its hands and allow industries within the State to violate its environmental laws,”he said.

Calling on all industries to abide by the laws and regulations of the agency, to prevent further sealing of their facilities.
